The 2024 Chessmen Club Scholarship Application is Now Closed.

The deadline for submittal was April 1, 2024.

Over the past 66 years, the Chessmen Club has provided students with scholarships so they can attend college or vocational schools. Our scholars embody the Chessmen’s values of having a good work ethic, helping others, giving back to the community, and striving to serve as positive role models.

Selection Criteria

Scholarships are awarded based on the overall character of each applicant. Factors that will be taken into consideration include:

• Involvement in Community Service
• Involvement in Extracurricular Activities
• Examples of Leadership and Growth
• Minimum G.P.A. 3.0
• Evanston resident or connected to the Evanston Community

Application Requirements for High School Applicants:

• Fully completed application
• High School Transcript
• Photo
• List of community service and extra-curricular activities
• Enrollment as a full-time college student in the Fall

Renewal Requirements for Current Chessman Scholars:

• Fully completed application
• College Transcript
• List of community service and extra-curricular activities in which you are involved
• Enrolled as a full-time student in the Fall
• Written essay (no more than 1 page) to include the following topics: current major/minor; one of your major accomplishments this year; your educational and/or career plans.
