"Building Bridges to Better Health. Better Education. Better Communities."

Our Focus

As one of Evanston’s oldest Black male community organizations, the Chessmen Club is uniquely positioned to help black youth and the community reverse the negative trends impacting them today. We serve as mentors, advocates and role models, while providing scholarships and pathways to internships and job opportunities.  Furthermore, we are committed to providing our time, energy and support to address issues impacting our community such as hunger, literacy and health.

Annual Events

Our ability to provide meaningful and impactful service to youth and the community since 1958 is the result of our dedication to service, building long term relationships and bringing people together. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is our Annual Community Service and Awards Banquet, followed by our Annual Golf Outing.  The money raised at these events enables us to achieve our vision and mission of building bridges to better health, better education and better communities.

Our Scholars

Meet our Scholars and see how we've had the privilege to contribute to their success and ability to achieve and obtain their goals.
